Biography

David La?amea Kamanakapu?u Mahinulani Nalaiaehuokalani Lumialani Kal?kaua and sometimes called The Merrie Monarch (November 16, 1836 ? January 20, 1891), was the last reigning king of the Kingdom of Hawai?i. He reigned from February 12, 1874 until his death in San Francisco, California, on January 20, 1891. A Hawaiian song about Kal?kaua can be heard in the Disney movie “Lilo & Stitch”, it is heard when Lilo is introduced in the movie. The song is a poetic praise of the beloved king. The song’s title is “He Mele No Lilo”.
